Lucas Arts have had a rough time of it recently. Their two most recent PC games, The Phantom Menace and Force Commander, were both uninspired, unimpressive and unenjoyable, hardly fitting continuations of the venerable Lucas Arts legacy. And don't even get me started on the execrable Jedi Power Battles for the PlayStation. However, despite this recent nosedive in the quality of their games, there are not one but two lights at the end of the tunnel. One is the promising game Obi-Wan, the other: Escape From Monkey Island.

As many people have pointed out, Lucas Arts has yet to make a single bad adventure game. Ever. So far they're looking likely to continue this tradition with Escape From Monkey Island, due late this year. For one, the development team is headed up by Mike Stemmle and Sean Clark who both worked on the superb classic, Sam ‘n' Max. While this time round they intend to restrain their clearly twisted sense of humour a little more in fitting with the past Monkey Island titles, there's no doubt they have the ability to make Escape From Monkey Island the great game it deserves to be judging by their past efforts. Favourite characters from previous games are set to put in another appearance this time 'round. Aside from Guybrush Threepwood himself, Stan the Salesman, Murray the Skull, Carla the Swordmaster and of course Elaine Marley Threepwood (that's right, she and Mister Threepwood finally tied the knot) will all be putting in appearances along with a number of other old favourites.
